Formula

Result = Start date advanced until N qualifying working days have passed

A qualifying day is one that falls in your selected working week and is not on your holiday list.

Worked example

Adding 10 working days to a Monday with a Monday–Friday week lands on the Monday two weeks later, because four weekend days are skipped along the way.

Assumptions

  • Counting starts from the day after the start date.
  • Only the holidays you list are skipped.

Limitations

Half working days and alternate-Saturday schedules cannot be represented exactly. Use the custom working week to get as close as possible to your actual schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does adding working days mean?

It moves forward from your start date, skipping weekly offs and holidays, until the required number of working days has passed.

Is the start date counted as day one?

No. Counting begins from the next day, which matches how notice periods and turnaround times are usually described.

Where is this useful?

Working-day deadlines such as notice periods counted in working days, service-level turnaround times, document processing windows and project milestones.
