How to use this calculator

  1. Select your resignation date.
  2. Enter your notice period in days, weeks or months.
  3. Choose calendar days or working days to match your employer's policy.
  4. Note the estimated last working day and share it with your new employer only after HR confirms it.

Formula

Last working day = Resignation date + Notice period (inclusive)

Worked example

A resignation on 10 March with a 30 calendar-day notice gives an estimated last working day of 9 April. In working-day mode with a Monday–Friday week, 30 working days push the date to around 21 April.

Assumptions

  • Notice starts the day after resignation.
  • Any holidays you add are excluded from working-day counts.

Limitations

Handover completion, pending leave, project releases and management approval can all change the real date.

Please confirm your final date with HR and check your employment contract.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the last working day?

It is the final day you are on the employer's payroll and expected to work, at the end of your notice period. Relieving and full-and-final settlement usually follow it.

Is the last working day counted inside the notice period?

Yes. The last working day is normally the final day of the notice period, not the day after it.

Can I take leave during my notice period?

That depends entirely on employer policy. Some companies allow leave adjustment against notice, others extend the last working day by the leave taken.
