How to use this calculator

  1. Pick the date you submitted (or plan to submit) your resignation.
  2. Enter the notice period and choose days, weeks or months.
  3. Select whether your employer counts calendar days or working days.
  4. Set your working week and add any company holidays you know of.

Formula

Last working day = Resignation date + Notice period

Notice window = Day after resignation → Last working day (inclusive)

Worked example

If you resign on 1 September and serve a 60 calendar-day notice, your estimated last working day is 31 October. With a Monday–Friday week, roughly 43 of those days are working days, and the rest are weekly offs.

Assumptions

  • The notice period starts the day after the resignation date.
  • A notice period in months moves the date to the same day in a later month.
  • Working-day mode treats a week as five working days and a month as 22 working days.

Limitations

Your employment contract and employer policy determine your actual notice period. Leave balances, garden leave, approvals and handover requirements can all shift the final date.

This calculator does not represent Indian employment law and is not legal advice. Always confirm your last working day with HR.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a notice period counted?

Most employers count calendar days starting from the day after your resignation is submitted or accepted. Some count only working days. Check your offer letter or HR policy to see which applies to you.

Is a 90-day notice period legal in India?

Notice periods are set by your employment contract and employer policy, and 30, 60 and 90 days are all commonly used. This calculator does not interpret law — refer to your contract and, if needed, a qualified professional.

Do weekends and holidays count in the notice period?

If your notice is counted in calendar days, weekends and holidays are included. If it is counted in working days, they are excluded — switch the mode in the calculator to see both.

Can my notice period be shortened?

Sometimes. Employers may allow leave adjustment or a buyout of the remaining days, entirely at their discretion and subject to your agreement.
