How to use this calculator
- Choose whether you know the new CTC or only the offered hike percentage.
- Enter your current annual CTC in rupees (8 LPA = 800000).
- Enter the new CTC or the hike percentage.
- Read the hike percentage, increase and monthly equivalent in the result card.
Formula
Hike % = ((New CTC − Current CTC) ÷ Current CTC) × 100
New CTC = Current CTC × (1 + Hike % ÷ 100)
LPA = Annual CTC ÷ 1,00,000
Worked example
Moving from ₹8,00,000 (8 LPA) to ₹10,00,000 (10 LPA) is an increase of ₹2,00,000. That is a 25% hike, and the monthly CTC equivalent rises by about ₹16,667.
Assumptions
- Both figures are annual CTC on the same basis, including variable pay if applicable.
- Monthly equivalents divide the annual amount by twelve.
Limitations
CTC composition varies between employers. Two identical CTC numbers can produce very different take-home salaries depending on PF, gratuity, insurance and variable pay. Use this as a comparison tool, not a take-home estimate.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does LPA mean?
LPA stands for lakhs per annum. 1 LPA equals ₹1,00,000 of annual CTC, so 8 LPA is ₹8,00,000 per year.
How do I calculate the hike from 8 LPA to 10 LPA?
The increase is ₹2,00,000. Divided by ₹8,00,000 and multiplied by 100, that is a 25% hike.
Should I compare offers on CTC or in-hand salary?
Compare both. CTC tells you the headline package, but the split between fixed pay, variable pay and benefits decides how much actually reaches your account each month.
Does a higher CTC always mean higher monthly salary?
No. A package with a large variable or joining bonus component can have a higher CTC but a similar monthly fixed salary.
